After that last post, I decided a break was in order. Now that the week is over, I finally got some good news. The state of Illinois changed the certification rules for teacher certification and without any additional classes, I will be able to teach math here! I was so excited. I really enjoyed teaching but couldn't find work in IL because my certification was only in a narrow area in this state. So I am hoping to find a teaching job in the next couple on months.
Plus, my brother got married yesterday! It was the weirdest most fun ceremony I have been to in a long time. I didn't get any pictures, because I ended up in charge of tons of stuff that and Ben had my camera but only took like two pictures on it. My sister however took a million pictures so I should have some soon. They were terribly unorganized and the bride was freaking out. So I coordinated and did the music. She rode her Harley down the aisle. Nate was the ring bearer. He was rather glad he didn't gallop down the aisle as he did in the second rehearsal. I served much wine after the wedding before the pictures. Good homemade mead, strawberry wine, blackberry wine, winery bought wine, champagne. I think I poured 12 bottles in a half hour time.
The reception was much fun with dancing and chatting. I know a goodly number of my brothers friends so it was the kind of reception where I didn't have to hang out with just a select few or mingle with people who don't know me. The boys danced and Ben cought the garter. My boys went home with my MIL (my new SIL is related to my other SIL's stepbrother. A little Jerry Springer sounding, isn't it?) At which point my cousin's fiance, my mother and I proceeded to start in on some shots. (I drink very rarely but when I do watch out. I like shots, plus all the good wine was gone) My mom hadn't enjoyed drinking and dancing in quite a while. It was a good time. Then everyone proceeded to drink a little to much and we nearly got them kicked out their hotel by making to much racket in the wee hours of the morning.
But the sad news about the wedding, I didn't finish the clapotis. You would think with all the free time I had this week, I would be able to finish it. But that free time didn't materialize with all the meeting with people, unemployment and job searching. That and I had both Nate and my nephew the morning of the wedding when I thought I would be able to finish it. Instead I was interrupted every five minutes by either a crisis for the wedding or two tired little boys who were not getting along or hungry or just generally needing smoochies. Poor Nate just doesn't like to be followed and bugged by the nephew. It makes him mad which then makes the nephew mad. Time outs were had. Aunt Mindy got the bad aunt award for the morning. The nephew did not hold it against me. On the plus side, it was too warm to wear the wrap anyways, so she will get in next weekend.
Today, my poor sad hangover self skipped out of dinner with the in-laws to sleep. Since I had only managed about three hours. I would not recommend sleeping on an air mattress when really drunk. I kept dreaming I was on a boat and the stomach was rolling. Plus we stayed at my parents and once someone is up, I can't sleep in their house. so three hours of sleep was not helping me feel better. Once I got home, I slept the afternoon away. I feel pretty good now.
It was most surely a much better week.
